The pitch is a line.

Attack angle aims the swing path uphill. Vertical bat angle then rolls the whole swing plane around that path — like twisting a disc around its axle.

Rule 1

Every pitch is falling

There is no rising fastball. Gravity wins every time. A fastball crosses the plate dropping about 7 degrees. A curveball can be falling at 16 or more. The pitch is always a downhill line.

Rule 2

One point, or the whole line

Geometry gives a line and a plane exactly three options: they cross at a single point, they miss completely, or the line lies inside the plane. Matched planes turn one point of contact into a long window.

Rule 3

Tip it, then roll it

Attack angle tips the swing axis uphill. Swing tilt then rolls the entire disc around that same axis. Watch the orange diameter: it shows vertical bat angle changing while the centerline keeps pointing along the pitch.

Try this

Press Match the plane, then move Swing tilt from −35° to +35°. The orange diameter rolls around the pitch axis, but the green centerline stays aligned. That is the difference between attack angle and vertical bat angle.
